The Shop Assistant Manager supports all aspects of daily operations to deliver a world-class shopping experience. This role assists in leading the team through strong hospitality, product knowledge, and service excellence. Responsibilities include supporting sales performance, staff training, merchandising, budgeting, and maintaining operational standards. Additionally, the role oversees all aspects of Club uniforms, including vendor management and distribution. Success requires leadership, attention to detail, and a passion for creating an engaging environment for both staff and members.
Compensation: $55,000 annually
KEY RESPONSBILITIES Customer Service & Leadership
- Provide outstanding customer service and resolve member concerns promptly.
- Model and reinforce a high standard of hospitality, professionalism, and integrity.
- Foster a positive, team-focused environment that supports staff success and guest satisfaction.
Staff Management
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training of new staff.
- Support scheduling, monitor coverage, and approve time-off requests.
- Coach team members through regular feedback, performance tracking, and quarterly service training.
- Help administer disciplinary actions and document performance concerns when necessary.
- Supervise daily staff workflow and provide on-floor training support.
Retail Operations & Merchandising
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and visual standards across the shop and storage areas.
- Support inventory management, including product receiving, stock levels, and essential store supplies such as bags, boxes, wrapping materials, and gift items.
- Collaborate on merchandising plans that align with business goals and customer expectations.
- Stay informed on retail trends and suggest innovative ideas to enhance offerings.
Uniform Program Oversight
- Manage the full process of Club uniform distribution, including vendor coordination, ordering, receiving, and employee assignment.
- Maintain accurate stock levels and address departmental needs proactively.
Financial Management
- Assist in budget planning and monitor daily sales and service performance.
- Analyze financial reports to track trends and help achieve revenue and profitability targets.
- Support loss prevention efforts and conduct regular inventory counts including 2 full inventory counts per year.
Administrative Support
- Process payroll accurately and on time; verify timecards and payroll previews.
- Ensure compliance with Club policies and procedures across the department.
Other tasks as assigned by the COO, The Shop Buyer & Manager, or Senior Leader.

Requirements
- Regular office work onsite in a work facility with stairs and an elevator.
- Ability to work at a computer and stand for extended periods of time, communicate in person, via phone and Zoom (or another virtual platform).
- Abilities to lift up to 25lbs, frequent ability to stoop, kneel and crouch.
- Occasional need to use a ladder for stock/inventory needs.
- Possible travel to meetings and conferences in and out of town, which may include overnight accommodations.
Qualifications: Required:
- Minimum of 2 years of retail management/supervisory experience.
- Excellent Microsoft Suite skills.
- Demonstrate strong leadership ability and positive team collaboration. Strategic thinker; ability to analyze and solve issues quickly.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities, works well under pressure and independently, and is able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred/Plus:
- Experience in boutique/high-hospitality environment.
